Ground yellow corn, meat and bone meal, corn gluten meal, chicken by-product meal, animal fat (preserved with BHA), soybean meal, artificial colors (Red 40, Yellow 5), salt, corn syrup, sodium metabisulfite…

Below average for adult dogs 4 flagged ingredients · low named-protein content
BHA (preservative) — synthetic antioxidant restricted in parts of the EU; linked to health concerns in long-term animal studies.
"Meat and bone meal" — unnamed animal source. You can't know what protein your dog is actually eating.
Corn listed first — the #1 ingredient is a cheap filler, not a protein. Fine occasionally; poor as a staple.
3 better options found — similar price per kg, named proteins, no flagged additives. Tap to compare in the app.
Scan my pet's food

The label is designed to be skimmed. PawScan reads it.

"Premium." "Natural." "With real chicken." Marketing gets the front of the bag; the truth hides in an ingredient list written to be ignored. PawScan decodes every ingredient against veterinary nutrition guidelines and your pet's own profile, age, breed, weight, allergies, so the choice in the aisle takes ten seconds, not a research evening.

Guessing at the shelfPick by the bag design and the price tag, then wonder why the itching, the tear stains or the tummy troubles won't go away.

Questions, answered

Does it work for cats too?

Yes, dogs and cats at launch, with species-specific guidelines (what's fine for a dog isn't always fine for a cat, and PawScan knows the difference). One subscription covers every pet in your home.

Where do the grades come from?

Grades are built on published veterinary nutrition guidelines and ingredient-safety research, weighted for your pet's profile. Every flag comes with a plain-English explanation and its source, no black box, no brand sponsorships influencing scores.

Is this veterinary advice?

No — PawScan is an information tool, not a vet. For medical conditions, prescription diets or anything health-critical, always follow your veterinarian's guidance. PawScan helps you ask them better questions.

What do waitlist members get?
